The same system of stripes was used on the shoulder marks or shoulder boards worn on the white service and khaki working uniforms and the blue overcoat, except for flag officers who wore gold lace-covered shoulder boards with silver stars to indicate rank.
On the blue service uniform, gold stripes on the lower sleeves indicated rank, with a line or corps device above the stripes.
